The Briars in Natchez, Mississippi is one of the most sophisticated examples of the planter’s cottage architecture of the lower Mississippi valley, and from the Briars evolved the Natchez. Jefferson Davis married Varina Howell in the parlor of the Briars and one may still visit this beautifully preserved site today.
